After the death of her husband James in 1949, Rosetta, now 53, moved to Bowmanville, Ontario, and resided in a small house at the back of her daughter and son-in-law’s property (Dorothy and Howard Burgess).

Her next move was to Ottawa to live with her daughter Florence, where she lived until her death in 1980.
