Arrived in Canada ~1828.

Working as labourer in 1831 census in the area near the current Lakefield, QC which was formerly known as “North Gore”, “Gore Twp.” or “The Gore”.

Settled in Gore Twp. on 100 acres in the W 1/2 of Lot 14, Range 3 when he was authoized on Nov. 11, 1829. Petition for this land was granted Dec. 14, 1840.

He had also taken 100 acres in Lot 18, Range 3 about 1834.

and a few years later he bought an adjoining tract of 100 acres, East half Lot 17, Range3.
